The Big Ten is a team where every team in the conference still had the potential to be bowl eligible going into last week’s games. There was a great contest between Ohio State and Iowa which was decided on a field goal in overtime, giving Ohio State the Rose Bowl. While Penn State and Wisconsin continued to roll, Indiana, Purdue and Michigan were eliminated from having any bowl hopes.
Let’s take a look at who Carl took for this week’s games.
Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-5), (3-4) @ No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes (9-2), (5-2) 12:00 ESPN – Here he thinks a game will be closer than it should be, with Iowa pulling out the 24-20 win.
No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes (9-2), (6-1) @ Michigan Wolverines (5-6), (1-6) 12:00 ABC – The Buckeyes are flying high, while the Wolverines are at a new low. Ohio State wins this game 41-17.
No. 14 Penn State Nittany Lions (9-2), (5-2) @ Michigan State Spartans (6-5), (4-3) 3:30 ABC - He likes the Penn State running game and their defense here, giving Penn State the 35-21 win.
Purdue Boilermakers (4-7), (3-4) @ Indiana Hoosiers (4-7), (1-6) 3:30 Big Ten Network (BTN) – Neither team is making a bowl game so don’t expect too much excitement. Purdue gets the nod 34-33.
No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers (8-2), (5-2) @ Northwestern Wildcats (7-4), (4-3) 3:30 BTN – Northwestern has two straight upsets, but Wisconsin is looking for a 10-win season. This one is close with a 1-point edge going to the Badgers.
