Toledo and Central Michigan enter tonight’s game with a full 10 days of rest, so both teams are fresh and ready to roll.  The extra three days of rest is critically important this late in the season, and because of it, we can expect both teams to perform well in this game, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Central Michigan is the class of the MAC conference, and their offense has been outstanding under quarterback Dan LeFevour.  The Chippewas are averaging 31 points on 391 yards of offense per game (versus teams that allow 29 ppg on 380 ypg).  Against MAC opponents, Central Michigan’s offense is even better as they average 36 points per game which is # 1 in the conference and # 35 in the country.

And that potent Chippewas’ offense will be a facing a very weak Toledo stop unit that ranks # 106 in the country in total defense.  The Rockets are allowing 37 points and 425 yards of offense per game (versus teams that average 25 ppg and 345 ypg).  Toledo’s 37 points per game against ranks them dead last in the MAC and # 117 in the country.

But as bad as their defense is, Toledo’s high-powered offense keeps them competitive.  The Rockets are averaging 29 points and 441 yards of offense per game (versus teams that allow 26 ppg and 372 ypg).  They are above average in every category as well; average 4.6 yards per rush (versus teams that allow 4.1 ypr), average 7.5 yards per pass attempt (versus teams that allow 7.1 yppa), and average 6.2 yards per play (versus teams that allow 5.5 yppl).

This is Central Michigan’s first home game in over a month (Oct. 10th), and we expect to see their offense put-up points in bunches tonight.  In their three home games this year, the Chippewas have scored 48, 48, and 56 points.  On the road, Toledo’s defense hasn’t been able to stop anybody.  In their five road games, the Rockets have allowed 52, 38, 31, 30, and 31 points.

Play OVER the total.
