The first thing you need to know about betting on the NFL is that
there are three main ways to do so, against the point spreads, money
lines, and totals. When we are talking about the NFL football lines
we are referring to the money lines. If we talk about the odds then
we could possibly mean all three, but most likely this is also
referring to the point spread. Totals are also call "over/unders."
If you want to know how the NFL football odds work then you can head
over to that article that has already been posted.
So when you take a look at the lines you'll see two teams, one will be
the favorite and one will be the underdog. How do you know, well the
favorite will have a minus (-) sign by the number correlating to their
game and the underdog will have a plus (+) sign next to their number.
Let's take a look at an example:
Team A -135
Team B +120
So Team A is the favorite and Team B is the underdog. Now for the
numbers, if you want to bet on Team A then you are going to have to
bet $1.35 for every $1 that you want to win. However, if you want to
take the underdogs then you only have to bet $1 for every $1.20 you
want to win. This is one of the main reasons that professional
bettors like taking the underdog on the money line if they are a small
dog who isn't getting very many points anyway. You have to be
careful with this though because the first time you lose a bet by a
point or two that you would have won if you would have taken the
number will leave you gun shy. You have to factor in the fact that
if you are getting +120 instead of laying -110, if just one is six
wins costs you by not taking the points, you are still going to be up
money in the long run.
We hope this article on NFL football lines will help you win a little
extra money this season. Now here are this week's numbers for you to
take a look at.
