Big Al consistently proves that he is one of the best at making football predictions. On Monday night he cashed in on the big game between the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans by taking the UNDER. At 8:30 pm, our NFL Monday Night Total of the Month is on the UNDER in Houston/Tennessee. This play is largely technical in nature, as it falls into two Totals systems of mine which have records of 140-75 and 78-37 ATS. These two teams did meet earlier this season, and Tennessee RB Chris Johnson piled up 197 rushing yards against the Texans. But since that game, Houston’s rush defense has tightened up, and has allowed just 60.5 yards per game, and ranks as the #1 rush defense over the past 6 weeks. Coach Gary Kubiak commented about his defense that, “They’re just getting better and better. They’re the strength of our football team right now, the way they’re playing.” Certainly, Houston’s pass defense is not as strong as its rush defense, but the good news for Houston is that Tennessee QB Vince Young is a TERRIBLE passer. I expect a run-heavy game, which leads to there being less overall plays (as incomplete passes stop the clock, and “lengthen” a game). Look for Tennessee/Houston to go ‘under’ the total. Good luck, as always…Al McMordie.
