Let's get started in the NFC where the cream of the
crop is once again the Chicago Bears. Sure they have had
problems in the off-season with Briggs holding out for a period of
time and the release of Tank Johnson, but it appears they have
things on track now and this team could be scary. New Orleans
is the team that we think is going to be right there in it to the
end with them, as this offense is the one in the NFC that can
contend with the defense Chicago brings to the field.
Philadelphia and Dallas are both good enough to be in the Super Bowl
picture, the only question with them is if they can get through the
grueling NFC East without being too banged up to make a run in the
playoffs. You'll also see the Carolina Panthers and Seattle
Seahawks make the playoffs, and these teams have shown in recent
years that the talent they put on the field is enough to make a deep
run in the playoffs.
When we head over to the AFC it's tough to not start
with the New England Patriots. The rich got richer here with
the additions of Moss on offense and Thomas on defense. Then
you have to look at the Indianapolis Colts. This team lost
some key members on defense, and that defense carried them in the
playoffs after playing a disappearing act in the regular season.
Peyton Manning isn't going to lose focus as he wants a few more
rings to catch up to Tom Brady. The San Diego Chargers are the
third team in the AFC's elite. With the talent they put on the
field this team should be able to overcome having their coaching
staff decimated in the off-season. The Baltimore Ravens and
Cincinnati Bengals will both be making playoff appearances out of
the North and the Denver Broncos are hoping that last year's
experiment with throwing Cutler in to learn first-hand what the NFL
is all about is going to pay off with a trip to the post-season.
